For a few years I have been writing about introversion, social anxiety and the different introverted personalities. It is a subject that I am passionate about and that I study independently in my free time. In particular I write a lot about the INFJ the rarest personality (?), largely because I am an INFJ myself.
You are probably already familiar with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) test. It indicates psychological preferences for how people make decisions and view the world. There are sixteen different Myers-Briggs personality types. Some of you have caught my attention for naming my posts as “INFJ, the rarest personality in the world“, and I think the time has come to….
Sure enough, INFJs are no longer the weirdest personality in the world. Whaaat? but I wanna feel special!😅
In this post we will see the most recent personality data, and my personal opinion on what these changes may be due to.

INFJ is no longer the weirdest personality
16 types of MBTI ranked from most common in the population to least:
INFJs now occupy number 14! being ENTJ the rarest personality in the world (data from 2019). Let´s see what all this means.
Is it bad to be the weirdest MBTI personality?
Having a common personality type doesn’t mean you’ll automatically fit in and feel understood. Even the most common personality type only represents 17.6% of the global sample according to the survey.
While ENTJ is the rarest personality type, that doesn’t make it any better or worse than other personality types. Each personality type has its own strengths and weaknesses, either more common or harder to find in the general population.
About ENTJs, the weirdest new personality
People with an ENTJ personality type tend to be charismatic, direct, and logical in their behavior. They tend to avoid showing their emotions and can be perceived as cold in certain situations. They enjoy taking charge, working to achieve goals, and fostering the growth of those around them. ENTJ refers to a person who is energized by time spent with others, who focuses on ideas and concepts rather than facts and details , who makes decisions based on logic and reason and who prefers to be planned and organized rather than spontaneous and flexible.
Facts abouts ENTJs:
- ENTJs tend to see things in a straightforward “black and white” way.
- ENTJ types prefer to think ahead rather than focus on the here and now. They generally find abstract and theoretical information more interesting than concrete details.
- They are frank and direct, which is sometimes taken as arrogance.
- ENTJs are planners. Making decisions and having a planned schedule or course of action gives them a sense of predictability and control.
- They are highly rational, good at spotting problems, and excel at taking charge. These tendencies make them natural leaders who focus on solving problems efficiently.
- ENTJs aren’t good with emotions, but that doesn’t mean they’re intentionally cruel. They are prone to hiding their own emotions and sentimentality, viewing it as a weakness that should not be disclosed to others.
- As extroverts, ENTJs thrive on social interaction. They thrive in social settings and feel better when given the opportunity to express themselves verbally.
TOP 5 rarest personalities
They understand and care about people, and they have a special talent for bringing out the best in others. ENFJs are so externally focused that it is especially important for them to spend time alone. This can be difficult for some ENFJs, because they have a tendency to be hard on themselves and have dark thoughts when alone. Consequently, ENFJs can avoid being alone and fill their lives with activities involving other people.
As an INFJ, your main way of life is internally focused, where you take things in primarily through intuition. Because INFJs are such complex people, they can be reluctant to associate with others who might not understand or appreciate them, and therefore it can be difficult to get to know them. Because the INFJ have such strong intuitive abilities, they trust their own instincts above all else. This can result in INFJ stubbornness and a tendency to ignore other people’s opinions.

ENTPs are good talkers, quick-witted, and enjoy debating with others. Under stress, ENTP can lose their ability to reason logically and become obsessed with unimportant details. These details may seem extremely important to the ENTP, but in reality they are usually not relevant to the big picture.
INTJs live in the world of ideas and strategic planning. They value intelligence, knowledge, and competence and generally have high standards in these respects, which they continually strive to meet. To a lesser extent, they have similar expectations of others. INTJs are natural leaders, though they often choose to stay in the background until they see a real need to take leadership.
What are these changes due to?
First of all, say that the changes have not been so drastic, the INFJ personality has gone from 16th to 14th place and it should be noted that they are data of the world population. In the geographic area where you live, the INFJ may still be the rarest personality. My opinion is that it doesn’t really matter if your personality is the least common or not, although it’s fine as a curious fact but it won’t affect you so much in your day to day.
It is difficult to associate these changes to a specific reason, but I would like to mention a theory that I have seen in some online forums.
Is it possible that your predisposition to want to be an INFJ at first the weirdest personality in the world influences how you answer the test questions?
The truth is that while you do the personality test in some questions you can know if it will go in favor of one personality or another. This would be done by someone subconsciously and without knowing that they are being influenced by their preference.
But again, it’s just a theory, what do you think these changes are due to?
